If there’s one thing I’ve learned grinding ranked in League of Legends this season, it’s that not all champions are created equal when it comes to climbing. Patch 2026 isn’t about flashy outplays or high-skill picks — it’s about consistency, simplicity, and champions that can take over games without relying too much on your team.
I’ve tested a lot of picks this patch, and after watching high-level breakdowns like this video, one thing became clear:The best champions right now all share the same traits — they’re reliable, easy to execute, and punish mistakes hard.
What Actually Wins Games
From my experience, climbing isn’t about picking “meta” — it’s about picking champions that:
- Don’t rely on perfect team coordination
- Can snowball or scale consistently
- Have simple win conditions
A lot of players overcomplicate this. But in solo queue, simple champions that either scale hard or force fights dominate.
Top Lane – Just Outscale or Be Unkillable

Top lane right now feels incredibly forgiving if you pick scaling or pressure champions.
Kayle is one of the easiest ways I’ve climbed. You don’t need to win lane — just survive. Once you hit late game, you completely take over fights.
Mordekaiser is another pick that just wins games by existing. If the enemy mispositions once, you press R and remove their carry. Simple, effective, and perfect for solo queue.
If you prefer something more chaotic, Singed works because people still don’t know how to play against him properly — especially in lower elo.
Jungle – Pressure Early, Win Fast

Jungle is probably the easiest role to climb with right now if you pick the right champion.
Volibear feels completely broken in solo queue. You can dive, force fights, and control objectives without needing your team to play perfectly.
If you want something even simpler, Shen is one of the most consistent picks I’ve used. You don’t need mechanics — just punish AD comps and spam gank.
And honestly, Amumu is still one of the most underrated climbers. Press R in a teamfight and you’ve basically done your job.
Mid Lane – Control and Scaling Wins
Mid lane is less about mechanics this patch and more about control.
Malzahar is probably the freest LP I’ve gained. You push waves, press R, and someone dies. That’s it. No fancy plays needed.
Veigar is another insane pick. Even if you lose early, you scale into a late-game monster that deletes people instantly.
And if you like longer fights, Swain thrives in this meta. Once you get ahead, you just walk into fights and don’t die.
ADC – Scale and Clean Up

ADC feels strong right now, but only if you pick champions that can carry late fights.
Jinx is still one of the best champions to climb with. Once you get a reset, fights are basically over.
Miss Fortune is a much easier alternative. Strong lane, huge teamfight impact, and very forgiving.
If you’re more aggressive, Nilah is one of the strongest carry picks — but she requires a bit more confidence.
Support – Carry Without Farming

Support is underrated for climbing, especially if you pick champions that can influence fights hard.
Brand is one of the easiest ways to carry from support. You deal insane damage and don’t rely on your ADC.
Sona scales incredibly well and turns teamfights later into free wins.
And if you prefer playing safe, Braum gives you insane peel and consistency.
Final Thoughts (From My Climb)
If I had to summarize everything from this patch and my own ranked grind:
- Simple champions > mechanical champions
- Scaling or reliable engage wins games
- Consistency matters more than “outplays”
The biggest mistake I see players make is constantly switching champions. The truth is, you don’t need a huge pool — just 2–3 strong, reliable picks that you actually understand.
